Between 1974 and 1978, Ted Bundy abducted, sexually assaulted and murdered dozens of young women and girls after luring them to his car, often by pretending to need help. Arrested in Utah on kidnapping charges, he soon became a suspect in a growing list of homicides in several states. While awaiting trial in Colorado in 1977, he escaped custody twice – and then committed three more murders in Florida before being recaptured. Bundy, described as a sadistic sociopath, was executed in the electric chair in 1989.
