A Florida Love Triangle Turned Deadly After Roommates Began Relationship
Eric Robinson killed Nicholis Wilcox in 2017 after finding him in bed with his ex-girlfriend, Isabella Tagliarini.
In the early morning hours of October 5, 2017, Eric Robinson killed his ex-girlfriend’s new boyfriend, Nicholis Wilcox, by bludgeoning him with a metal rod inside their home in Plantation, Fla.
Robinson allegedly attacked Wilcox after he found him in bed with his ex, Isabella Tagliarini. Wilcox’s body was later discovered in a shopping center dumpster. The events leading up to the discovery resulted in both Robinson and Tagliarini being charged in connection to the murder.
The Couple’s History
Tagliarini met Robinson in 2012, and she moved in with him in June 2016. Soon after they began cohabiting, she told police that Robinson was physically abusive toward her and threatening to kill her, which prompted multiple 911 calls. Even when Eric was in jail, he would make bail and return home.
“The fear was getting worse. I couldn’t...find a way to leave him, and I was always believing his story, that he was gonna change,” Tagliarini told A&E’s Killer Cases.

Nick Wilcox Moves In
By 2017, Wilcox, a divorced father of three from Connecticut who knew Robinson from a local construction job, moved in with the couple.
“He was a very vibrant person, full of energy, wild, always fun-loving and generous and always wanted to help others,” Wilcox’s brother, Don, told Killer Cases.
At first, all three got along—until Robinson became abusive again. During one of the altercations, Wilcox got involved, and Tagliarini began to record the incident on her cell phone as Robinson threatened both of them, as seen in Killer Cases. Wilcox and Tagliarini filed a police report and showed authorities video of an incident.
Soon after, Robinson was put in jail, according to Killer Cases.
‘I Fell in Love’
While Robinson was serving time in Broward County Jail, Tagliarini and Wilcox began a romantic relationship.
“I fell in love. Completely,” Tagliarini told police during questioning. “Especially because he saved me. So I was in love, and he told me he was in love, too. So, that’s when we started being together, and everything went very quickly.”
Wilcox wrote Tagliarini a love letter, saying that he was going to marry her and planned to start a family with her someday. “I was feeling like I was alive again. I could breathe,” Tagliarini told Killer Cases. “And Eric was finally in a place that he couldn’t come after me. They told me a lot of charges that would make him stay in jail at least, minimum, five years in jail.”
Despite what police told Tagliarini, Robinson posted bail and was released on October 3, 2017, without Tagliarini or Wilcox knowing. Days later, on October 5, Robinson returned to their shared apartment.
Cleaning Up the Scene
Prosecutors believe that Robinson found the love letter. Tagliarini claimed that she woke up with one of Robinson’s hands on her mouth and the other around her neck, asking if she wanted to live or die. She subsequently heard Robinson beating Wilcox to death.
“[Robinson] smashed [Wilcox’s] entire face into the point where he lodged his teeth into the back of his throat,” Don told Killer Cases. “He didn’t die right away. He was suffering in massive pain and could barely breathe for a long period of time.”
Robinson threatened to kill Tagliarini as well, ordering her to take Xanax and wash it down with vodka. “Whatever he told me to do, I would do. I was in just survival mode,” Tagliarini said.
She didn’t contact police for around 15 hours after the murder. When police called Tagliarini to get more information, she told the 911 dispatcher that Robinson took Wilcox’s body, but she wasn’t sure where.
By the time police arrived at the scene, neither the body nor Robinson could be found. However, police noted that the home had been cleaned, as there was an overwhelming smell of cleaning products. There was also fresh paint on parts of the walls.
Tagliarini claimed that Robinson made her clean up the blood and body and said the only reason that she did was to survive. Robinson allegedly told Tagliarini that they could cover up the murder by claiming 39-year-old Wilcox had moved out without telling them.

Questioning Her Story
Just hours after the murder, Robinson and Tagliarini were seen hugging and kissing on security camera footage at a Publix grocery store, bringing her story about going along with Robinson’s orders out of fear into question. Tagliarini is seen on video with her phone despite previously telling police she didn’t have it. She also didn’t ask anyone for help while Robinson stepped out of the store, claiming that she was too afraid.
Tagliarini accompanied Robinson to dispose of Wilcox’s remains in the town dump, where surveillance video shows multiple trash bags and Wilcox’s body wrapped in a tarp in the back of Robinson’s truck. However, Robinson thought there were too many people around, so they decided to try to dump the body in the Everglades.
After noting that there were many people in the area at the time, they went to dump the body in a dumpster behind the Publix shopping center, according to court docs.
Ultimately, Tagliarini led police to Wilcox’s body, where they charged Robinson with second-degree murder and Tagliarini with accessory to murder after the fact. Tagliarini pleaded guilty to tampering with evidence and served as a witness during Robinson’s trial. Meanwhile, Robinson pleaded not guilty.
2 Trials
Robinson’s first proceeding ended in a mistrial after the judge said testimony from Robinson’s former fiancée about a restraining order was too prejudicial. His second trial began on April 24, 2023. Robinson’s lawyers alleged that it was actually Tagliarini who killed Wilcox and blamed it on Robinson.
“I was accused,” Tagliarini explained on Killer Cases. “And he was sitting there like nothing, accusing me of all his choices, all his decisions. [It] was very devastating, was terrible, terrible.”
On the second day of the trial, Tagliarini took the stand to recount what she witnessed. She claimed that Robinson had a big piece of metal and was hitting Wilcox with it until he died.
“I couldn’t look,” Tagliarini said when she was asked how she reacted to the scene. “I was so afraid, so scared because I knew I was going to be the next.”
Later on in the trial, Robinson declined to be a witness, and he was ultimately found guilty of second-degree murder and was sentenced to life in prison for Wilcox’s murder. Robinson appealed his conviction and sentence, but Florida’s Fourth District Court of Appeal affirmed both in November 2025.
While Tagliarini faced prison time, she was only put on probation, per Killer Cases.
“My desire all these years was just what I’m doing now, to be able to tell my truth,” Tagliarini said. “And I want people to know that I was the victim of all this, too.”
