Between 1972 and 1978, John Wayne Gacy raped, tortured and killed at least 33 young men and boys in his ranch-style house in suburban Chicago. The prolific serial killer, who also worked as a clown at local events, buried most of his victims in the crawlspace beneath his house – a gruesome fact that authorities discovered after his 1978 arrest. Convicted and sentenced to death in 1980, he was executed by lethal injection in 1994.
