Pop star Selena is murdered by fan club president

Selena Quintanilla, the “Queen of Tejano Music,” was shot and killed in a motel room in Corpus Christi, Texas, by the president of her fan club, Yolanda Saldívar. When the 23-year-old star confronted Saldívar about embezzled funds from the singer's club and clothing boutiques, Saldívar shot Selena in the back. Saldívar was convicted of first-degree murder and received a life sentence.
