Before taking his two children trick-or-treating in his Texas neighborhood, Ronald O’Bryan laced six Pixy Stix with deadly potassium cyanide and handed them to his kids and three other children in hopes of making the crime appear random. Only his 8-year-old son, Timothy, consumed the poisoned candy—and died within hours. O’Bryan, who was $100,000 in debt and hoped to collect on life insurance policies he’d taken out on his kids, was convicted of capital murder and executed in 1984.
