Billionaire conman Bernard Madoff arrested

Over several decades, former NASDAQ chairman Bernie Madoff defrauded investors of $65 billion in the largest Ponzi scheme in history. He managed to keep his fraud operation afloat until the 2008 financial crisis, when clients requested $7 billion in withdrawals he could not fulfill. Arrested after confessing to his sons, Madoff pleaded guilty in 2009. He was sentenced to 150 years in prison and died there in 2021, age 82.
