Robert Durst, the scion of a wealthy real estate empire, was arrested for the brutal 2000 murder of his longtime friend Susan Berman – one of at least three suspicious deaths to which he was linked. Though he previously had been acquitted of the 2001 murder and dismemberment of a neighbor, Morris Black, he was convicted of Berman’s killing in 2022. He was also charged with the 1982 killing of his first wife, Kathleen McCormack, but died in prison in 2022 before he could be tried.
