The bar where Jim surprises Callie, which was known as Murphy's on the show, is actually Dicey Riley's in downtown Fort Lauderdale, a bustling bar-restaurant.
During filming there was a full moon, which brought in the tide to form a tidal pool that literally came to the base of the surf shack. It was so close that our crew had to dig a drainage ditch (by hand!) to keep the water away.
Jeremy Sumpter, who plays Dane Westing, is perhaps best known for his role as J.D. McCoy on the series Friday Night Lights.
The surf shack was built by our construction department and assembled on the beach for the scenes that took place there.
