On Sunday, April 27, 2008, Ashley chalked up her first victory at the NHRA Southern Nationals to become the first female driver to win a national Funny Car event. She powered her Castrol GTX Ford Mustang to 320.36 mph, smoking all competitors including her dad, John Force. Read more about Ashley's first win.
On Sunday September 23, John Force was injured when his funny car crashed during a race in Texas. Force, a 14-time NHRA champion, was airlifted to a hospital in Dallas. Force was conscious and alert after the accident, and is expected to make a full recovery.
