Peter Sutcliffe, the "Yorkshire Ripper," is apprehended

Peter Sutcliffe, a prolific serial killer dubbed the “Yorkshire Ripper,” murdered at least 13 women and attempted to kill seven others between 1975 and 1980 in northern England. His killing spree – which involved attacks on sex workers with hammers and knives – ended in 1991 when he was picked up for driving a car with false number plates and weapons were discovered nearby. He died in prison in 2020 at age 74.
