The body of a 4-year-old boy--naked, severely beaten and stuffed into a cardboard box--was discovered in a wooded area in Philadelphia in 1957. Despite widespread publicity, his identity remained a mystery for 65 years. (His tombstone even read “America’s Unknown Child.”) Then in 2022, authorities used DNA profiling to identify the boy as Joseph Zarelli. His parents are both dead, and the case remains unsolved.
