In the wee hours of a January morning, Texas police officer Darrell Lunsford pulled over a suspicious vehicle that, unbeknownst to him at the time, the three men inside were using to transport cannabis to Illinois for sale. When Lunsford asked to inspect the trunk, the three ganged up on him, beating and stabbing him and then fatally shooting him with his own handgun – all of which was captured on the dashboard camera of Lunsford’s cruiser. The three men were all convicted for their role in the murder, and the video was widely circulated to help train law enforcement officers.
