Seattle schoolteacher Mary Kay Letourneau sparked national outcry when she began sexually abusing a 13-year-old student, Vili Fualaau, who was two decades younger. After serving three months of a reduced sentence, she defied court orders to stay away from Fualaau and returned behind bars for seven years. The pair eventually married in 2005 and raised their two daughters (each conceived before her prison stints). The couple divorced in 2019; she died of cancer the following year.
