Al Capone, one of Chicago’s top crime boss during the Prohibition era, was branded as “Public Enemy No. 1" following 1929’s Valentine’s Day Massacre, in which seven people from rival gangs were murdered in broad daylight. Federal prosecutors ultimately convicted Capone—nicknamed Scarface—on five counts of income tax evasion. He served approximately eight years in prison.
