Russell Hantz
Russell grew up poor in a big family in small town in Louisiana. From winning wrestling championships to building businesses he’s always been hungry for success. With his oil-tankering business off the ground he took a chance and auditioned for Survivor. He became a household name overnight as the show’s all-time number one villain. Now he’s using the same cut-throat tactics that served him so well on the island to claw his way to the top of the Houston real-estate market.
What's the biggest mistake you've ever made during a flip?
Letting Shawn be the inspector.
What skills that you learned from being on a competition show have you brought to the table as a house flipper?
Reading and understanding people, and learning that sometimes you have to manipulate the situation to get what you want.
What do you see other flippers do to a home to try to up the value, that you would never do?
I would never cut corners nor use cheap cover-ups. Everything I use is top of the line, always.
What advice would you give to people who want to be more successful, but may not have the means to do so?
You have to be driven in whatever you do. If you believe enough that it can happen, then it will happen.
