Christopher Hesse joined the NYPD in the mid-1980s and served as a police officer in Times Square, East New York, and Flushing, Queens. He was later promoted to detective while assigned to the Organized Crime Control Bureau, Auto Crime Division. During his tenure there he worked with numerous federal and state agencies.

Hesse was also trained by the NYPD Intelligence Division in the field of Dignitary Protection and was assigned to protect numerous foreign dignitaries in New York City. He also served as a 9/11 First Responder (rescue and recovery) at Ground Zero and recovery at the Fresh Kills landfill. He is particularly proud that he was a member of the NYPD when it experienced record crime reduction in the 1990s.

Hesse joined the Runaway Squad in 2009. It is an honor and a privilege for him to be part of such a dedicated group of people, and he appreciates the unique perspectives and experiences each person brings to the team.

He lives with his wife and two teenage daughters on Long Island, NY.
