The Pick-Up Truck
A pivotal character on the RANDOM 1 team, Jackie is Andre Miller's 1987 green Ford pickup truck. She helps to support the giving mission and is involved in every episode of this original, real-life TV series.
Jackie was named by Miller to honor a young cousin of the same name who was always the last kid picked in childhood games but who somehow always ended up on the winning team. Beat-up and rusted, Jackie the truck has an uncanny way of breaking down in exactly the right time in exactly the right place. Jackie rumbles when she's resting, grumbles when she's rolling and smiles all the time. The truck's homey, vintage personality persuades strangers to climb inside her world and contemplate real-life change.
Jackie's role on RANDOM 1 is to give participants a feeling of comfort. Once they're in the truck, seated between hosts John Chester and Miller, personal space isn't an option. Jackie forces the issue of intimacy and the results lead to truth and emotional revelations. |
