On-air host, evangelist, and street "tracker" for Random 1®, Andre Miller is a multitalented fitness trainer who, along with partner John Chester, saw an opportunity to transform lives by documenting their grassroots giving efforts in an original, real-life TV series.
Miller developed his winning formula as an undergrad at Wilkes University in Wilkes-Barre, Pennsylvania. This "little guy" from North Bay Shore, New York, who struggled to make the high school team, became one of the best collegiate wrestlers in the country, earning All-American honors at the NCAA Division 1 Championships. He went on to gain a law degree from the University of Maryland while also becoming a Certified Conditioning Specialist (CCS) and a skilled martial artist.
In the mid-1990s, as host of Good Morning & Good Living, a show he created for Baltimore’s NBC affiliate WBAL-TV, Miller met John Chester. The two hit it off and began collaborating on R+R, a series about holistic rest and relaxation techniques for the Discovery Home & Leisure Channel. On their free days, the two friends started traveling around and practicing casual acts of charity. Within a few years, the Random 1 philosophy had taken hold.
Miller's role is to roam the streets to find people willing to take the Random 1 risk. He listens to their stories, pushes to discover the root of their problem, and persuades them to consider change. Miller's charisma and sincerity quickly engage strangers, but his relentless intensity also often puts them off. On every show, Miller encounters an array of colorful rejections before getting to the all-important "yes."
