The Posners are a family of four living in Connecticut. Mick and Henry were born profoundly deaf while Faith and Rachel experienced progressive hearing loss at a young age. They all wear hearing aides exclusively. They use a mixture of speaking, reading lips and sign language to communicate. Mick and Rachel are hoping to get their son Henry a cochlear implant which he has independently been asking for, but the implant is a controversial topic that often divides the deaf community starkly.
