In a working class neighborhood in Cleveland's west side, a woman frantically calls 911 from her home. Patrol and paramedics respond and find a man on his bedroom floor, shot in the chest.
Lead Detective Lem Griffin arrives on the scene and is briefed by responding officers and the crime scene technicians.
In Dallas, TX, teenagers gather to party at a local lake. Suddenly, shots are fired into the crowd.
When Police and EMS arrive they find a young man and two young women shot. All three are rushed to the hospital but, on the way, the young man dies.
Detective Quirk is briefed on the scene about the condition of the two surviving victims.
Crime scene technicians process a car near where the victims were shot.
"They were just spraying bullets all over the parking lot. It was the wild west." David England, a member of the Crime Scene Response Section has recovered fourteen .223 shell casings.
Two hours into his investigation, Detective Quirk catches a surprising break. "Witnesses coming back to a scene wanting to help does not happen very often, and I am thankful for it," he says. Quirk will need the witness to tell him what they saw.
Back at headquarters, Detective Brian Tabor briefs Quirk on what the surviving victims told him at the hospital.
Detective Quirk visits the Dallas Northwest District Substation, near his crime scene, to put out a BOLO (Be-on-the-Lookout) for a potential suspect.
The next morning, Detective Quirk's BOLO pays off. An officer from the Substation calls with a possible lead on his suspect.
Back in Cleveland, detectives search their victim's roommate's room to see if they can find a potential lead on why they may have been targeted.
Detective Echols speaks with the roommate and encourages them to come forward with what they know.
Meanwhile in Dallas, Detective Quirk watches his witness look at a lineup in the hopes that they can ID his suspect.
"This is my last day in homicide." Although he's leaving homicide, Detective Quirk will continue to work this case until his suspect is in custody. See more in the episode, "Bloody Sunday."
In Cleveland, Detective Griffin gets an anonymous tip that might lead him to a potential suspect.
The Violent Fugitive Task Force prepares to head out and arrest Detective Griffin's suspect.
The Task Force prepares to search the suspect's last known address.
A relative of the suspect says that they are inside, but they refuse to come out.
The Cleveland SWAT Team is called in to search the house, room by room, for the suspect.
The SWAT Team successfully apprehends one of Detective Griffin's four suspects.
