Why I Decided to Become an EMS Worker
I have had an affinity towards emergency response since I was young. My uncle gave me a police scanner when I was 12 years old and I learned all of the “Ten-codes” at that age. I volunteered for a fire department in my hometown at 16 and took the EMT course at 18. The medical side of emergency response never gets stale.
Why I Love My Job
Providing reassurance to someone in a chaotic situation is an extremely rewarding feeling that keeps me interested in EMS. The power of a smile or “Thank You” from a patient goes a long way. (But, watching people jump when you turn the sirens on never gets old, either!)
Facts About My Day-to-Day
Outside of EMS I work as a Forensic Death Investigator. On the days that you don’t find me working you can usually find me on a golf course. Although I always find time to beat up on my friends at Mario Kart…original version, obviously. I am an incredibly picky eater. I might be the only person in Louisiana who strains their gumbo to get the onions, bell peppers, and celery out.
Anything outdoors suits me. Lots of golf, tennis, fishing, and hunting. My friends and I enjoy playing a lot of cards.
