A&E is saddened by the unexpected passing of Special Agent Richard Melcalfe. He will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with his family.

Richard was a hulking native of Hawaii – where he first worked in a prison as a correctional officer -- the rest of the Squad knew him as “The Big Kahuna.” Typically a gentle giant, his carefree Hawaiian temperament gave way to a hot temper when a suspect became uncooperative. Occasionally, the words that came out of Richard’s mouth sounded as if they were ripped from the pages of a hard-boiled crime novel.

“You set this table. Now sit down and enjoy the feast,” was said to one suspect.

Richard was an avid guitar player who liked to jam with his drummer son. He was also one of the Squad’s most accurate marksmen.
