This episode was directed by Eric Laneuville, who is back after directing the episode "Iron Pipeline" from Season 2. In addition to directing a number of TV shows, Eric is perhaps most famous for his role as Luther Hawkins on St. Elsewhere.
No, we didn't film on location at a nudist colony. We created one in Tree Tops Park in Broward County. This park has 280 acres of forest, trails, and lakes, and during the filming of this episode, a handful of almost-naked extras.
As you might be able to tell, the nudists aren't really nude. We used strategically placed crime scene tape, tree limbs, and plants to make everyone look like they were in the buff. All their bits were covered, though.
You might recognize guest star Todd Grinnell, who plays Donald Glandon, from his recurring role on Desperate Housewives as Dr. Alex Cominis.
The actress who played our corpse, Maggie, knows something about police work. She is a Broward Sheriff Deputy and a big fan of The Glades. She was just dying (pun intended) to play a victim on the show.
Although the scene where Callie sneaks out of Jim's bedroom was filmed on the soundstage, the shot of her outside wearing bedding and being ogled by a weird neighbor was filmed on location. The two were edited together to appear seamless.
For the scenes in Donald Glandon's office, we filmed at an engineering firm in Port Everglades. During the end of our time there, we were close to the action of the Fort Lauderdale Air Show, a cool event where the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds perform.
Lea Coco, who plays Phil, has a recurring role as Hank on Lifetime's The Client List.
