This episode was directed by Emmy Award-winning actor, Tim Busfield, who starred in the movies Field of Dreams and Revenge of the Nerds among other films. He's also had many TV roles, though he's perhaps best known for his work on thirtysomething and Trapper John, M.D. (for which he won the Emmy).

Carlos's daughter's Quinceanera party was actually filmed at the St. Bernard de Clairvaux church, a 700-year-old Spanish monastery brought over from Spain. It was purchased by newspaper magnate William Randolph Hearst in 1925, but was not reassembled until the 1950s, after it was purchased from an estate sale.
The scenes involving the Higher Roads rehab center were filmed in a very large house (over 10,000 square feet) in Fort Lauderdale called Journey House.
Did the beach scene where Jim Longworth finds Andrew Waller's body look familiar? It should. It was the same location for the crime scene in the Season 2 premiere, "Family Matters," where the body of Eduardo Garcia's missing brother was found.
