Captain John Cosgrove

A 20-year veteran of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, Captain John Cosgrove heads their homicide unit.

Cosgrove and his wife, Kerry, have been married for sixteen years. They first met more than 26 years ago in high school and started dating. His wife is very supportive of his career, even if it means leaving the family in a moment's notice. "When my pager goes off my girls will say 'Oh no! Daddy do you have to go to work?' That makes it difficult for me but they all understand that this is Daddy's job."

The payoff for Cosgrove is whenever he returns home, his daughters are waiting for him. "I love walking in the door at my house—both my girls run up and tackle me. They tell me how much they have missed me and that they love me, every time, no matter what they're doing. There is no greater feeling than that. It makes all the stresses of the job evaporate immediately."

Detective Angela C. Garrison

Detective Angela C. Garrison was born in North Carolina but raised in Iowa. She has been with the Kansas City, Kansas PD for the past twelve years. She previously worked in Missing Persons and Crimes Against Persons before transferring to Homicide. She takes her job to heart and says, "The murder victims have loved ones who need answers. It's my job to find those answers."

Garrison is married with two children and two step-daughters, ranging in ages from 2 to 18. She enjoys cooking, baking and traveling.

Detective Robert Bobby Lane

A veteran member of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department Homicide Unit, Detective Bobby Lane has a very unique gift as a homicide detective.

His partner, Keith Wright, describes him as "a very good investigator," but what he is known for is his sense of humor and ability to make people at ease. "He laughs a lot and jokes. ... He has very good social skills." Wright says, "He gets me to lighten up during an investigation so we will not be so nervous and tense."

Detective Greg Lawson

At 37, Detective Greg Lawson has been a member of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department for 14 years, 6 of which have been in the homicide unit. "I applied to be a policeman the day I turned old enough to be hired."

Having always wanted to work in law enforcement, he feels fortunate that he has been able to be a police officer most of his adult life. Being known in his department as a top-notch interviewer, Lawson attributes his skills to his father: "My dad was a very strong influence on me. [He] was a very, very gracious guy, who treated everybody with a great amount of respect. ... I learned a lot from watching him. He really had a lot of success with interacting with people by just treating people the way that you want to be treated. And that's what I try to exemplify in talking to witnesses, or victims, or suspects."

When Lawson is not on the job the thing he likes to do most is "participating as much as possible in activities involving my children." A devoted family man, he is married and has two children.

Greg Lawson is currently working with the Kansas City, KS Special Enforcement Unit.

Detective Mike Lucas

Before transferring to Homicide, Detective Mike Lucas worked in Robbery, Narcotics, and Assaults. He is a seventeen-year-veteran of the Kansas City Kansas Police Department, but originally hails from Kansas City, Missouri.

Mike Lucas is married with two children, both boys. He is into muscle cars.

Detective Bill Michael

Kansas City, KS's Homicide Detective Bill Michael was born and raised in Kansas City, KS. Michael is a fourteen-year veteran of the Kansas City Police Department. Before joining Homicide, he worked in the Robbery department and did undercover work in Narcotics.

Detective Bill Michael has been married for twenty-six years. He has three sons. Michael and his family are a modern-day Partridge Family, with each of them playing a musical instrument. Detective Michael plays drums; his sons' combined accomplishments include a full college scholarship for electric bass and a spot in the Warped Tour. He spends a good deal of his free time jamming with his three sons. Michael counts Rob Zombie, Slipknot, System of a Down and '70's classic rock as some of his influences.

Detective Keith Wright

A 32-year veteran of the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, Detective Keith Wright has dedicated his life to being a cop. Sworn in at the age of 21, Wright started his career as a uniformed patrol officer and worked the streets for almost a decade. Promoted to detective, he's been one for more than 19 years. His current title is master detective, and he works in the homicide unit. Wright states, "I have always found homicide interesting and challenging. My roll in homicide is a team player with several years of experience to share."

Keith Wright has retired from the Kansas City, KS police department.

Detective Mike York

Though Detective Mike York has worked for the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department for more than 13 years, he has been a homicide detective for just over a year. It's the job he's always wanted.

York has two brothers whose careers vary greatly from his own—one is a lawyer and the other a priest. York says his father is tickled by his sons' professional choices: "One son arrests them, the other defends them, and the last one saves their soul."

York, 38, is happily married with a son and a daughter.

Mike York has been promoted to a homicide sergeant.
