Toni Washington

Affectionately known as “Lady T,” Detective Toni Washington’s calm, quiet demeanor masks a steely resolve. Fresh out of the Academy in 1985, she policed one of the city’s toughest neighborhoods: Englewood. “If you could work those streets,” she says, “you could work any of street in Chicago.” Washington became a missing persons detective in 2005, as assignment she relishes. She likes to relax in her garden, tending her prized roses.
