Detective Ayanna Corbin

During high school, Ayanna Corbin spent a year in Washington as a Congressional page. Her father, a 25-year Chicago Police veteran, unintentionally inspired her to join the department. “He asked me if I knew any guys who wanted to become police and handed me a stack of applications,” she says. “I thought it was kind of funny he only said `guys.’ So I turned in my application. The rest is history.” Corbin and her husband, a Chicago public school teacher, have a blended family of five children.
