Entry #6

Soundstage 1/4 Soundstage 2/4 Soundstage 3/4 Soundstage 4/4

Day five brought us to some scenes in the hospital. We shoot a fair amount of hospitals on the show and I’m always impressed by the location and art departments ability make them feel different and well suited to the particular episode. This week, the room was built in an office building down the road from our soundstage. As is the case with almost all sets built on stage (or in an office building) the walls are “wild” so that they can be pulled out at any time, allowing for easy access to multiple angles.

Again, thanks grips. And construction, while we’re on the subject.

Our crew is a competitive bunch. Each day at lunch, a group gathers between the prop truck and the makeup trailer (aka right outside my office) for a mostly friendly game of washers. Similar to horseshoes, the objective of washers is pretty basic. Get a washer in the cup. I’ve played and I’m not good but I do enjoy watching. Unless of course I’m working on a script. Then I curse them while trying to block out the clink, clink, clink of the metal washers on the pavement. But never would I dare to ask them to stop. These dudes work their butts off and I couldn’t begrudge them their 20 minutes of lunch time fun time.
