Entry #3
Family Reunion
Another afternoon call (12:00pm) makes for another great start to my day. Again I show up to set, drop off my things and zip over to hair and make-up. After my hair gets straightened, I go to rehearsal (hmm there seems to be a pattern here.) Once rehearsal was over I went to get breakfast (I know it was lunch time, but it was our first meal of the day on set, so we still call it breakfast.) I had another three scenes to shoot today, the second of which I was very excited about for one big reason; it was a Banks family scene.
The first scene was a short one between Benjamin (William), and myself (Ben). Nothing particularly cool happened but in the second scene, for the first time in a while, all four characters in the Banks family, William (Benjamin), Melissa (Amy), Lula (Liliana), and Ben (Me), were together.
As strange as it may sound it was very heart warming for me personally and most people on set because it's like our second family.
It was very nice to see all of us happy and laughing together in a scene.
While we were filming the scene, Benjamin and I had to get into a chase around the kitchen island. During one of the takes, I began to run later than I was supposed to so I didn't get far enough away from Benjamin. As he reached for me, I looked back at the same time and his finger tips caught me in the cheek. I'm so glad his fingernails were short so all that happened was a little redness on my face. I did, however have to get a bunch of make-up put on so that my face didn't have a red mark on it. Benjamin was really apologetic but we all ended up laughing about it. Definitely something I will never forget.
My last scene of the day was particularly easy on my part. All I had to do was sit move around in the background, and make it seem like I was manning the counter at the surf shop.
It may seem useless for me to have been in the shot if I was merely in the background but I had to be there because Ben, my character, entered with William, Benjamin's character. To maintain the "reality" of the episode, we had to have me somewhere in the scene. Again, that wasn't a bad scene to end the day on. The only bummer was that I had to wait 3 days to shoot again.
