Rudy and Carlos find a Spanish-style bungalow in LA’s Mount Washington neighborhood — the views are great, but the house needs some TLC. The price is right but there’s a catch–the front retaining wall is on the verge of collapsing into the street. In order to close on the property, Rudy must agree to fix the wall. It could be a costly repair, but Rudy takes the gamble and buys. The long abandoned house requires a complete interior renovation. The backyard presents more challenges — it was once a gorgeous, terraced garden overlooking rolling hills and the distant city skyline but years of neglect have left it an overgrown jungle. With the financial crisis looming, Rudy decides to play it safe and take on the role of general contractor. While he may save some money, he may lose his sanity.

CT Homes heads to the nearby town of Hamden, CT for their next project. JD gets the lead on a “for sale by owner” Cape Cod-style single family home on Daniel Street. The elderly owner has moved to a retirement facility and his daughter is overwhelmed by the extensive repairs needed to get the house in shape to sell in a down market. Underneath the peeling paint, Than, Paul and JD see great potential in the property for a successful flip in a charming neighborhood. The team decides to go for a new kitchen and bathrooms and a patch up on the roof. But, JD encounters the first major problem in the basement–there’s a mystery leak and if it’s not patched up right away the team could lose a whole level of living space. While the team is in the midst of figuring out the problems that are mounting at the Daniel Street house, Paul brings even bigger news to the table — he’s getting married in two weeks!

While scouting out the local housing stock, Than manages to find CT Homes’ first California flip — a two-family house in San Diego’s popular Mission Beach area. For this flip, Than decides to go green and gets to work with the help of JD and their San Diego project manager, Pat. With a flip in the works and a new real estate scene to master, Than’s got a lot of work to do to make his California dream come true.

It’s Armando’s mission to set investor-wannabes straight and tackle one real estate nightmare at a time. In this episode, Armando travels to San Clemente, California, to help Tom and Deb Finnegan. Their renovation project has spiraled out of control: a 3,000-square-foot Spanish Renaissance dream house has become a house of horrors. A series of unfortunate events, including the death of their contractor, left the Finnigans penniless. Armando first must push Tom and Deb to end their cycle of self-destruction and follow his advice or face complete financial ruin.
