Since he was a kid, Jason Spiller wanted to be a police officer. He began his career as an officer in Harlem working on Patrol, Anti-Crime, and the Street Narcotics Enforcement Unit.
In time, he was promoted to detective and served various assignments including Bronx Narcotics and the Organized Crime Investigation Division. Following four years of undercover work infiltrating organized crime, Spiller was transferred to the NYPD/FBI Joint Terrorism Task Force to work on both domestic and international terrorism cases.
Spiller served 17 years in the NYPD, receiving numerous awards and distinctions. He is a member of the NYPD Honor Legion, which is comprised of officers who have received department recognition for deeds of valor performed at imminent risk of life.
Spiller believes that an effective investigator is a good listener, hard-working, and persistent. After retiring from the NYPD, he wanted to continue being an investigator. He joined the Runaway Squad in 2009, and finds it both challenging and rewarding.
Spiller is married and has three daughters.
