Watch exclusive behind the scenes video of Third Eye Blind on Private Sessions

Twelve years ago, their self titled album exploded off the charts, selling over 5 million copies worldwide and producing such hits as "Semi-Charmed Life", "Jumper" and "Never Let You Go" among others. Since then, they've continued to entertain and challenge us with their controversial lyrics and infectious melodies. Now, we're happy to welcome our next featured guests on Private Sessions, one of the most popular bands of the late 1990s, Third Eye Blind.

Starting in the early 90's, Third Eye Blind cultivated a dedicated fan base while starting out in the Bay Area. The buzz was continuing to build when the musicians finagled their way into a prized opening slot for Oasis' April 1996 concert. Still unsigned at the time, following their well-received performance (which included an encore - a rare opportunity for an opening band), Third Eye Blind became the subject of a large scale bidding war between a number of major labels. The band eventually signed with Elektra/Asylum, a label that they felt afforded them the highest degree of artistic freedom. Soon after, they blasted out of San Francisco to national recognition when "Semi-Charmed Life" went to #1 on the Modern Rock charts and their self-titled debut album became a radio staple. Their album, Third Eye Blind went on to contain several other chart-topping singles such as "How's It Going To Be" and "Graduate" among others, cementing the band's place in music history.

From 2007-2009, the band has performed before a remarkable 1 million people, making them the most-requested artists at colleges nationwide.

Today, Third Eye Blind is back as an unprecedented story of a band coming into focus with the help of an entirely new youth culture, accessing the internet and social networking sites to build the fan relationship that has driven the band to form a community so inextricably linked that they're now considered another member of the band. In August of this year, Third Eye Blind will be releasing Ursa Major, their first studio album in six years. Ursa Major has taken shape in front of live audiences across the nation in a performance recently hailed as "one of the most thrilling shows I’ve seen in years" - Absolute Punk. Emotional, reflective, aggressive and sometimes outwardly political, Ursa Major features some of the most intense music of Third Eye Blind's career.

Only on A&E's PRIVATE SESSIONS - Don't miss an in-depth interview with Stephan Jenkins and Brad Hargreaves of the acclaimed band THIRD EYE BLIND. Plus, Third Eye Blind performs their mega hits "Semi-Charmed Life", "Jumper", "Never Let You Go" as well as new songs, "Don't Believe A Word", "Bonfire" and "Why Can't You Be" off their highly anticipated new album Ursa Major .
