A&E SCORES BEST QUARTER IN NETWORK HISTORY SOLIDIFYING ITS PLACE AMONG THE TOP FIVE NETWORKS ON CABLE
MARCH 2013 BECOMES NETWORK'S BEST MONTH EVER IN TOTAL VIEWERS, ADULTS 25-54 AND ADULTS 18-49 WITH DOUBLE-DIGIT GROWTH
NEW YORK, NY - April 2, 2013 - Continuing its phenomenal ratings growth after securing the best year in network history in 2012, A&E enjoyed its best quarter ever among total viewers and adults 25-54 behind the strength of the network's expansive slate of original series in the first quarter of 2013. Versus all ad-supported cable networks year to-date, A&E currently ranks among the top five entertainment cable networks in adults 25-54 (#4), adults 18-49 (#4) and in total viewers (#5).
Lead by original hit series as "Bates Motel," "Duck Dynasty" and the "Storage Wars" franchise, the network was up 2% in adults 25-54 (835,000 vs. 819,000) and up 6% in total viewers (1.7 million vs.1.6 million) edging out the previously record-setting first quarter 2012 as the best in network history.
March 2013 went on record as the most watched month in network history across all key demos, marking the first time A&E averaged more than one million viewers among adults 25-54 in a given month. Versus March 2012, A&E was up 23% in adults 25-54 (1,070,000 vs. 817,000), 26% in adults 18-49 (954,000 vs. 758,000) and up 24% in total viewers (1,981,000 vs. 1,604,000), making A&E the fourth ranked cable network in all three demos for the month.
