A&E FINISHES BEST JULY IN NETWORK HISTORY AMONG TOTAL VIEWERS AND ADULTS 25-54
NETWORK RANKS #4 IN TOTAL VIEWERS AMONG ALL ENTERTAINMENT CABLE NETWORKS FOR THE MONTH PROPELLED BY 21% GROWTH
NEW YORK, NY - July 31, 2011 - Continuing its ratings success, A&E enjoyed its best July ever among total viewers and adults 25-54. Propelled by the strength of the network's slate of original series including, "Storage Wars," "Longmire," and "The Glades," the network is up 21% in total viewers (1.7 million), 5% in adults 25-54 (762,000) and 2% in adults 18-49 (699,000) versus July 2011. For the month, A&E tied for #4 in total viewers among all entertainment cable networks.
The strong showing in July was led by "Storage Wars" with an average of 4.5 million total viewers tuning in each week, propelling A&E to be the #1 cable network on Tuesday nights at 10PM. A&E was also cable's most watched entertainment network on Sunday nights in July. New episodes of "Longmire" at 10PM averaged 4.1 million total viewers, making it ad-supported cable's most watched drama on Sunday nights for the month. Its 9PM lead-in, "The Glades," now in its third season, averaged 3.1 million total viewers per premiere episode for the month.
