Stacia from A&E's HEAVY

Height: 5'6"

Start Weight: 435.2 lbs

End Weight: 286.4 lbs

"I knew that I had to work on healing my heart and head if I wanted lasting, life-changing success. I began learning and practicing the very habits that I plan on maintaining for the rest of my life."

Stacia began to gain a dramatic amount of weight at the age of 12 after revealing to her family that she was a victim of molestation. Her addiction to food is severe; she sometimes eats more than 10,000 calories in a day. Despite her struggles with weight, she went on to study musical theater at a prestigious academy where she felt "alive" and happy for the first time in her life. Married just over a year ago to her husband David, her size limits their ability for intimacy and her sleep apnea forces her to sleep sitting up in her living room chair. Stacia dreams of having children and perhaps one day returning to theater, but must face her food addiction and lose weight.

Limitations:

  • -Can't sleep in bed, must sleep sitting up
  • -Can't attend work meetings due to her lack of mobility and small seats, which hinders her career growth
  • -Can't pursue theater or take classes

Health Problems:

  • -Severe obstructive sleep apnea
  • -Acid reflux
  • -Asthma
  • -Cellulitis
  • -Constant joint pain
  • -Borderline high blood pressure and rapid heart rate

Stakes:

  • -Wants more than anything to have a child
  • -Doesn’t want to feel unattractive and uncomfortable about her size
