“I choose life, not death. It is an every-day struggle, but I have been given the weapons to fight this addiction. I’m heavy, but not for long!”

Rickywayne started putting on weight when he was in the fifth grade. Getting creative with how to sneak the extra food, he figured out if he ate his bagged lunch on the bus to school he could get a second lunch for 50 cents at school. In addition to that, he discovered if he woke up in the middle of the night, he could get a fifth or sixth meal in for the day. Once his parents found out, they tried everything from putting him on diets to threatening to chain up the refrigerator. He recently lost his mother who told him she felt his weight was her fault because she fed him every time he cried when he was a baby. Ashamed of how he looks, Rickywayne wants to lose weight and get his health under control so he can have the chance to start a family of his own one day.
