Height: 4'10"

Start Weight: 312.6 lbs

“This was an awesome opportunity, I look forward to helping those who are struggling with the issues that have plagued me for years. I no longer use food to medicate myself.”

With her tiny frame (she's only 4'10"), Patty weighed a healthy 86 lbs when she was a young woman. She grew up with an alcoholic father who eventually committed suicide, her second husband was murdered while she was pregnant with their unborn child, and her second-born son died tragically when he was only 23 years old. As each tragedy struck, Patty turned to food to ease her pain. A few years ago when her weight became a serious issue, Patty began using a scooter to move around which caused her to exercise less and become fully dependent on it. Patty's family is extremely concerned about her. Once a vibrant, spirited, strong woman, her children have a hard time seeing Patty in this condition and believe she has a lot more life to live but they don't know how to help her. Patty must lose weight in order to regain her mobility and be around for her grandchildren.

Limitations:

  • -Can’t get around without a scooter
  • -Can barely get out of bed, bathe herself properly, or get up off the floor
  • -Can’t stand without using a cane for stability

Health Problems:

  • -Fibromyalgia
  • -Osteoarthritis of knees
  • -Sleep apnea
  • -High cholesterol
  • -Shortness of breath
  • -Back pain

Stakes:

  • -Is afraid she will become disabled if she keeps using the scooter
  • -Has never really been able to play with her grandkids because she rides on the scooter
  • -She feels if she doesn’t do something now, she will be dead soon
