Julia from A&E's HEAVY

Height: 5'8"

Start Weight: 254.4 lbs

End Weight: 166

“For years I struggled with my weight, but I feel like a new woman now. I am happier, stronger and faster than ever. I reminded myself of my inner strength, nothing can stop me now.”

A fraternal twin, Julia was always a chunky kid in comparison to her very thin sister. Her weight started spiraling out of control when her mother was diagnosed with terminal cancer and she became her primary caretaker, often cooking high calorie food to help her mom put on weight. After losing her mom four years into her cancer battle and then being dumped by a long-term boyfriend, Julia began to obsess over food and eat even if she wasn't hungry. Having lost out on work in the past because of her weight and watching her grandmother go blind from diabetes, Julia wants to grant her mother's dying wish, which is to lose weight and be healthy.

Limitations:

  • -Can't buy clothes in normal stores
  • -Can't schedule any activities to go places where she might not fit
  • -Can’t make plans because she’s afraid she might “slow everyone down”

Health Problems:

  • -Scared of getting diabetes

Stakes:

  • -Wants to fulfill her mother's dying wish for her to lose weight
  • -Wants to find love but feels she can't accept it until she loses weight
  • -Doesn’t want to get diabetes
  • -Wants to be a lawyer and thinks weight will hinder her career
