Houston, TX - Childcare Provider

Jodi from A&E's HEAVY

Height: 5'6"

Start Weight: 367.2 lbs

End Weight: 289.8 lbs

“I know my fight with my weight is far from over, but I am a completely different woman. Conquering your fears is not easy, but it isn’t impossible.”

Jodi has always been big and for most of her adult life, she has hovered around 350 pounds. She recently suffered a stroke, losing her vision and the use of half of her body for nearly two weeks due to her weight. The doctors told her to lose the weight or she could expect more complications. Her high blood pressure, constant fatigue and weight slowly prevented her from singing in the band she was in with her brothers and has made her job as a childcare provider very difficult. She spends most her day just trying to keep up with her husband and two kids. Ultimately, though, she feels she's even failing at that and can't be the wife she needs to be and the mother her children need. She's ready to start a new life.

Limitations:

  • -Can’t be active with the rest of her family
  • -Can’t sing in her band
  • -Can’t keep up with her 4-year-old son
  • -Childcare job is becoming too difficult

Health Problems:

  • -Suffered a stroke and concerned it will happen again
  • -Easily fatigued
  • -Knee pain
  • -Back pain
  • -High blood pressure

Stakes:

  • -Wants to lose the weight to avoid another stroke
  • -Wants to be able to continue her job in childcare
  • -Wants to live longer, and take care of her children
  • -Wants to lose the weight so she can rejoin the band
