It’s the Year of the Dog and the team realizes that they’re famous when they’re cheered at a parade in January. But it brings more then they bargained for. It is more difficult to hunt, children now see them as role models, and the team is roasted on South Park. Careful what you wish for!!

Dog and Beth reminisce about Duane’s reluctance to get married in the days leading up to their May wedding. Then the day before the wedding, Dog puts the rehearsal in jeopardy when he leads the team out on a hunt one hour before the run through.
On the morning of the wedding, Dog is dealt one of the most devastating blows he’d faced in the Year of the Dog when he learns that his eldest daughter, Barbara Katy Chapman, has died in a car accident. But despite this tragedy, Dog summons the strength to go forward with the wedding.

The Chapman’s have to get back to work, and nothing is better for getting their minds off their problems than hunting fugitives. So, in June the team heads to Denver to “find ‘em and fix ‘em.” Along the way, Baby Lyssa makes her first grab and Dog honors her with a badge of her own.
Dog’s son Tucker has come out of jail and returned to Hawaii to be reunited with his family. On Tucker’s birthday, Dog takes gives him a unique gift, a trip back to jail to give him a the gift of a life lesson he’ll never forget.
Later that month, Dog, Tim and Leland are unexpectedly arrested by U.S. Marshals in response to a demand by Mexico that he be extradited to answer charges in the arrest of the infamous fugitive Andrew Luster. The Chapman’s are stunned but the family rallies together to get the boys out of jail and to fight extradition.
After his release from prison Dog wounded by his setback can’t bring himself to hunt fugitives. So, in October he calls his preacher, Tim Storey, for the advice and inspiration to he needs to get back out on the hunt.
It’s Thanksgiving and it’s been a tough year for the Chapman’s. Dog and Beth share touching words of thanks for all they have despite the troubles they’ve faced in the Year of the Dog.
