TIPS
Tip of the week
Close your eyes and clap your hands. By listening to the sound of the echo, you can determine the distance to the surrounding walls and ceiling. With some practice, you can actually begin to estimate those distances. Sounds bounce off of hard surfaces and are absorbed by soft surfaces. This is an important factor for the selection and placement of furniture, window treatments, and floor and wall coverings. Note that wood absorbs sound, so a hardwood floor can be considered a soft surface for sound purposes.
TOOLS
Over the years, Eric has learned to become extremely resourceful in communicating with clients and contractors. He needs to know that everyone understands his vision for a space and knows how to carry it out. He has traced outlines in the sand, cut and folded paper shapes, erected Tinker Toy models, bent coat hangers, even arranged the condiments on a restaurant table to explain his ideas.
As technology becomes more sophisticated, so do Eric's tools. Here are some of the devices that Eric uses to do his work. |
