Eric has always been interested in art. Even when he was struggling and didn’t have much money, he would find ways to surround himself with artwork. He feels strongly about using original art for his clients as it brings a wonderful energy into a room.

Designing Blind now gives Eric the chance to promote local artists and allow them to show their work to a broader audience. Eric will feature one artist in each episode.

Martin Cox

Martin Cox, born in the port of Southampton, England, loves to photograph landscapes and all things maritime. Trained at two British art Schools, Cox moved to California pursuing his obsession with the desert-scapes of the west. Using a variety of cameras and printing styles, Cox has crafted a way to seduce us gently into a world that resonates in the imagination long after we leave the gallery. Eric wanted a piece that would remind Laura and Luca of their time at the beach, and Martin's piece fit the bill perfectly.

Paul Guillamette

Paul Guillemette grew up in Red Lake Falls Minnesota. After attending the University of Montana, he remained in Missoula, where he developed his unique and authentic style. He moved to Los Angeles in 2005 to cultivate new opportunities for his art and to be near the ocean. Guillemette, using paint, collaged objects and resin, communicates powerful yet common themes through accessible visual narratives, relating real life experience identified in every day, recognizable forms. The work is sometimes comic, often poignant and challenging, and consistently authentic to artist and viewer alike. For this series, Guillemette used raw ingredients from the chocolates and worked in the dark in order to better appreciate Eric's experience.

EPISODE 11
Dean Triolo

As a young child in sunlit Orange County, CA, Dean Triolo was intrigued with the patterning of light and the interaction of color. Later, as a painter and collage artist, he was influenced by the passionate hues of the Italian High Renaissance and the gestural freedom of abstract expressionism. In addition to this visual power, he became aware of a personal inner force motivating his own work that echoed the spiritual theory behind earlier art like that of Kandinsky. In his most recent paintings, Triolo reflects the energy and emotion of natural rhythmic patterns. We see vivid, deep colors radiating out just beyond the canvas borders. We recognize this pattern from our environment but are startled by the visual impact of a two dimensional aura of light and texture.
