Dr. Mahesh "Bug" Vijayaraghavensatyanaryanamurthy is a brilliant but shy forensic entomologist. He earned the nickname “Bug” for his love of insects. He had a younger brother who died when he got hit by a car. Bug was supposed to be watching him, but he slipped outside. Bug is of Eastern Indian descent and attended school at Oxford in England. He wanted to be a children’s doctor, but when the kids disliked him, he switched to duties in the morgue. He just wants to find a nice woman to love and marry and have a family with. He has feelings for Lily Lebowski, a grief counselor at in the medical examiner's office. He asked her out once, but Lily turned him down. Lily almost married another man, but left him at the altar when she finally realized she had feelings for Bug. Lily had become pregnant with her once-to-be husband, Jeffrey, but Bug offered to have her move in with him and support the baby. At one point, Bug was temporarily held by the Department of Homeland Security on suspicion of being a terrorist.
