Criss Angel Mindfreak 6

The Grand Canyon Death Jump

THE GRAND CANYON DEATH JUMP

In his most amazing and dangerous demonstration to date, Criss will attempt to jump the Grand Canyon in a high-powered three-wheeled motorcycle and try to miraculously appear inside a locked jail cell suspended from a helicopter 4,000 feet above the Canyon floor or plummet to his death.

DEMONSTRATION FACTS

  • The demonstration takes place at scenic Grand Canyon West, on a canyon river gorge over 4,000 feet deep.
  • Criss must drive his custom T-Rex car up a 40 foot ramp at the edge of the Grand Canyon and somehow jump into a cage suspended by a helicopter hovering directly over the 4,000 foot gorge.
  • Besides the 4,000 foot drop, Criss will have to contend with pyrotechnic gas bombs, intense rotor wash from the chopper and an unforgiving environment.
  • The helicopter Criss uses is a Vietnam War era airlift chopper. The pilot is trained to jettison the payload in case of any danger. That payload is Criss.
  • Grand Canyon West is located in the Hualapai Nation and his home to the Skywalk. The Hualapai, Native Americans whose name means "People of the Tall Pines," have 1 million acres of land on the west rim of the canyon along the Colorado River.
  • Robbie Knievel, son of Evel, did his Grand Canyon Jump in 1999 nearby along the same gorge.
  • For this stunt, Criss had his T-Rex custom made for this demonstration by Campagna Motors of Montreal.
