Biography
Betty Ford: One Day at a Time
Betty Ford is an inspiration to millions of Americans who suffer from alcohol and drug dependence and addiction. Her candid admission of her own battles with addiction has enabled others to face their own addictions. She has done the same for breast cancer. As First Lady of the United States, her own breast cancer was national news. Again, her spirit and candor inspired many women who were also battling the disease, and raised awareness for early breast cancer diagnosis. Betty Ford: One Day at a Time would be useful for classes on American History, American Culture, Women’s History, Science and Medicine, and Political Science. It is appropriate for middle school and high school.
