Sgt. Dudley “D.J.” Authement

Sergeant D.J. Authement was born and bred down the bayou and had a boat before he had a car. Almost 12 years ago, Authement fulfilled his wish of becoming a police officer when he joined the Terrebonne Parish Sheriff’s Office. Eight years later, Authement was assigned to Water Patrol, and now he patrols those waters on which he grew up. ‘I now have the best of both worlds,’ he says.

That appreciation for his career, as well as the love of his community and family, rings loud and clear with him. As a volunteer member of the Little Caillou Fire Department, Authement was named Firefighter of the Year in 2009. Even his hobbies seem to have a feel of community service. He holds the position of Sergeant at Arms for the Brothers in Blue Motorcycle Club, the fundraising, non-for-profit organization made up of police officers, firefighters and other first responders.
