One generation will forever remember Richard Harris as the dashing King Arthur while another remembers him as headmaster of the Hogwarts School. The films Camelot and Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone were released more than 30 years apart, yet they both endeared Richard Harris to their own movie audiences. But after more than two decades at the top, Richard became better known for his off-screen antics and hell-raising. This bad boy reputation led to less than great film offers in the 1970s and `80s. During that time, he found salvation on stage touring with Camelot. But, in 1990, Irish writer/director Jim Sheridan sent Richard the script The Field, for which Harris received his second Oscar nomination and movie offers poured in once again. Richard Harris died in 2002 of Hodgkin's Disease at the age of 72. His career was a long one and however they were received, no one could call his performances dull.
