Brooks and Dunn.
Leon Eric "Kix" Brooks and Ronnie Gene Dunn, the biggest-selling duo in all of country music, came from strikingly different backgrounds. Brooks, a Louisiana native, performed in ski resorts in Maine before moving to Nashville to become a songwriter. Dunn is a Texan who attended a conservative Christian University, but was kicked out for playing music on the side. In the 80s, he moved to Tulsa where he won a songwriting contest which led him to a recording session in Nashville and his first meeting with Brooks. Several demos later, the duo was signed with Arista, and in 1991 released their smash debut album, Brand New Man.
