A&E's Emmy®-nominated series "Beyond Scared Straight," following derailed, defiant and disrespectful teens as they enter immersive jail programs aimed at deterring them from a life of crime, returns for a sixth season.
Inspired by "Scared Straight!," the Academy Award® and multiple Emmy®-winning documentary film by Arnold Shapiro, "Beyond Scared Straight" follows at-risk teens who have been in trouble for everything from fighting, theft, drugs to promiscuity, gambling and gang affiliations. They are forced to spend a day (and sometimes a night) in jail, interact with convicted felons and experience the harsh reality of life behind bars.
This season on "Beyond Scared Straight," a teen fighter makes a run for it only to be thrown into a cell with the imposing inmate she was trying to escape; a gang-banger is stunned to meet his own incarcerated brother during the jail tour; a teen starts heading down the right path only to meet a tragic end; and a promiscuous, drug-using teenage boy reveals to an officer that parenthood may be looming.
