A spoiled drama queen thinks the tour of the Oklahoma County Detention Center is just a TV show populated with actors, but she is shocked by the reality of hardened criminals directing her every move.
Nik
AT THE CONCLUSION OF PRODUCTIONTo avoid bad influences, Nik quit his job and takes online classes. Now in a treatment program, he is confident he will soon reach sobriety.
LATEST UPDATE: MAY 2013Nik has made significant headway toward a new and positive life. Spending much of his free time playing music, he hopes to receive a college music scholarship. He is halfway through a vocational high school program to become a certified nurse's assistant, and he plans to attend medical school to become a doctor. For several months he successfully resisted the urge to smoke weed or drink alcohol, although due to a brief relapse with weed, he is soon scheduled to appear in court to face charges of marijuana possession. He hopes to put this behind him and continue on a positive path. Nik has grown much closer to his family, working at his aunt's flower shop and living half the time with his grandmother and half with his mother.
Brion
AT THE CONCLUSION OF PRODUCTIONBrion is respectful towards her mom and no longer mistreats her sister. Behaving in class and reading daily, her grades have improved.
LATEST UPDATE: MAY 2013According to her mother, Brion is still doing wonderfully and has continued to show major improvement since the jail tour. She gets along great with her sister and no longer disrespects her mother. As a result of her improved grades and better attitude, she will finally finish sixth grade this year. She has dreams of going to college and one day owning her own daycare facility. She says that next year, when she attends a new school, she will finally be able to be herself and not play the "tough girl."
Isaiah
AT THE CONCLUSION OF PRODUCTIONIsaiah says he now has a respectful attitude, better friends and no longer fights. His grandmother disagrees, saying he still won't follow house rules.
LATEST UPDATE: MAY 2013Although he is no longer fighting or damaging things at home, Isaiah was recently expelled from school after injuring a classmate with a pair of scissors. His grades are poor and he is still having issues controlling his anger. His grandmother and counselor are exploring ways to improve his attitude, including the idea of placing him in an alternative school. This summer, Isaiah will participate in a Police Athletic League, when local officers will get together to mentor teens with schoolwork and extra-curricular activities.
